TRAINING COLLEGE STUDENTS
SELECTION OF CANDIDATES FROM NELSON DISTRICT
The following have been selected by the Nelson Education Board for admission to the Teachers’ Training College in February, 1946: — Betty Flor. ence Brodie, Patricia Mary Bryant, Joan Margaret Carter, Jessie Thelma Dennis, Dulcie Margaret Egan, Agnes Josephine Fiorentino, Desmond Walter Fletcher, Terence Michael Grace, Hilda Clare Lineham, Thelma Ann McCaa, Florence Fanny McFedries, Marie Kathleen Maindonald, Margaret Pauline Neale, Mavis Joan Palmer, Grete Ruff, Barry Samuel, Margarey Allison Smith, Olwin Anne Taylor, Vida Rose Wallace, Wendy Walsh, Valerie Wearn, Rodger Donald Win. A fevy of the students will go to Wellington but the majority will attend at Christchurch. This year there were 54 applicants for the 24 nominations from the Nelson Board’s area. Two more selections have yet to be made. The board’s Selection Committee comprised the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre (chairman), Messrs C. A. Cumming, and H. J. Thornton (secretary). The committee states that it was not easy to make the final selections on account of the high standard of the applicants in both academic attainments and personal suitability.
