NEW APPLICATION MADE
INCREASE IN CHARGES WELLINGTON HARBOUR BOARD The Wellington Harbour Board has applied to the Price Tribunal for a review of the board’s application to increase its charges. The tribunal declined to allow an increase after a hearing last July. The board made jig decision following the receipt of a letter from the Minister of Industries and Commerce, Mr Sullivan, in which he advised such action. The tribunal’s decision had ■ left the way open to the board to renew its ap, plication at any time should any serious position arise, wrote the Minister, whose letter was read out at a meeting of the board last night. “It seems to me that the board, having regard to the altered circumstances since the time of the public hearing, may now decide to renew its application. In that case I am quite sure that the tribunal would arrange to rc-hear the case without delay,” said the letter.
The board replied intimating that it had applied to the tribunal to review its application at an early date, in view of the serious position the board found itself in.
