AT THE PICTURES
Majestic: To-night and to-morrow, “Hometown Holiday” and “The Singing Sheriff.” Starting on Saturday, “The Constant Nymph.” The two pictures for the current programme will offer songs, dances, romance, comedy, music and action in good measure, and should be acceptable film fare for patrons who seek this form of amusement. “The Constant Nymph,” starting on Saturday, is a very powerful and dramatic picture, presented by an admirable cast, and it should go down as one of the big pictures of the season. State: Starting Friday, “Greenwich Village,” a musical mardi-gras in technicolour, starring Don Ameche, Vivian Blaine, William Bendix, Carmen Miranda. This bright comedy recreates the gay and dramatic intimacies of the village's human cross-section. The sparkling dance sequences for the film were staged by Seymour Felix, and the rich, colourful costumes were designed by Hollywood’s ace designer—Yvonne Wood.
