NOT ENTERING POLITICS
EMPHATIC STATEMENT BY EISENHOWER
Washington. June 23.
General Eisenhower emphatically denied anv idea of entering politics. He said: “It is silly to talk about me in politics when the War Department turns me out to grass. All I want to be is a plain United States citizen. That is what I am going to be. I am a soldier, not a politician.” General Eisenhower was speaking at a press conference at his home at Abilene, in Kansas A number of newspapers had been suggesting General Eisenhower as Secretary of State and others as the next President. General Eisenhower after a few days at home is returning to Washington for a conference with Mr Stimson, Secretary of War, after which he will have a short rest before returning to Germany.
