CLEVELAND ROAD HAZARDS
WARNING SIGNPOSTS TO BE ERECTED The Automobile Association (Nelson) decided last night to place signs in Cleveland road pointing out the need for care on the part of motorists on account of the steepness and narrowness of the road. Reporting on Cleveland road, the Patrol Officer, Mr N. M. McLaren, said that in comparison with the majority of streets in Nelson this section was definitely steep and narrow and called for special care in driving. He suggested that signs be placed at both lower ends of Cleveland road and at the head of both descents at the top. In a discussion it was urged that the road should be declared a one-way road, up from Nile street and down to Manuka street. Against this it was pointed out that it would penalise residents at the borttom of each section. On the suggestion of Mr J. A. Harley it was decided to signpost the road "and leave the other hazards to look after thejyiselves.”
