NELSON GIRLS’ COLLEGE “This year again, on the birthday of Princess Elizabeth, we made at assembly a collection of voluntary contributions for the Intel national Student Service,” reported Miss J. Stewart. Principal of Nelson Girls’ College, to last night’s meeting of the Council of Governors. “The sum of £39 10s (including £23 from the staff) was contributed. In the following week the Sixth Form set themselves out to earn money to'add to this and. together with the proceeds of a sale which they organised, they handed in £2O 10s. As a result, before the end of the term we forwarded to Dr Broadhead, treasurer of the I.S.S. in New Zealand, a cheque for £6O. “Our work on behalf of the International Student Relief Fund is organised by our Student Christian Movement branch. “On the Polish National Day, 3rd May, the day on which we closed school abruptly in order to celebrate the good news that VE-Day had arrived, we held a school concert, for pupils only, in aid of the Polish Red Cross. As a result a cheque for £lO was sent to Countess Wodzicka, wife of the Polish Consul, from whom we haye had a very appreciative letter of .thanks.”
