MAIL DAMAGED
PARCELS FOR FORCES IN ITALY Wellington, June 9 A statement that part of a large mail for the New Zealand forces in Italy, containing parcels and newspapers posted in New Zealand toward the end of November and early in December, had been badly damaged by seawater ,due to a serious mishap to the conveying vessel which necessitated the flooding of the holch was made yesterday by the Acting-Postmaster-General, Mr Jones. He said that the mail had since been delivered to" the addressees, though numerous articles had been rendered useless by water. Unfortunately, shortly after this mishap, a further five bags of parcels and one of letters were destroyed when an * army truck caught fire while travelling between the New Zealand Advance Chief Post Office and Advance Base in Italy.
