MEMORIAL SERVICES
ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-MORROW Wellington, This Day. The Acting-Prime Minister, Mr Nash, announced last night that in connection with the death of President Roosevelt the heads of the churches in New Zealand had been invited and had agreed to arrange for memorial or other appropriate services to be held in their churches throughout the Dominion tomorrow. In respect of the Jewish communities special reference will be made at the Sabbath services to-daj'. Mr Nash stated also that the funeral of the late President will be observed in New Zealand by two minutes’ silence at 11 am. on Monday, and knowing the very high place which the late President held in the hearts and minds of our people he felt sure that the Government’s wishes will be readily acceded to by all sections of the community. Mayors, county chairmen, chairmen of town boards and road boards have been requested by telegram to take whatever action is necessary in their own districts to arrange for this observance.
