BRITISH SUBMARINE OPERATIONS London, Sept. 30. During recent operations from the Arctic Circle to the Aegean, British submarines sank 37 German or Ger-man-operated ships and damaged othei’S, says an Admiralty communique. These successes included the destruction of one large, Six medium and 26 smaller supply ships, also one R-boat. Three naval auxiliary ves'els, five medium and eight small supply ships were damaged. One of our submarines on the Norwegian coast intercepted a convoy of three strongly-escorted supply ships. One large and one medium supply ships were torpedoed and set on fire before being sunk. Another submarine in northern waters carried out an outstanding attack against a northbound convoy consisting of three medium and two small supply ships which were intercepted off Kristiansund. south Norway. The submarine attacked and obtained several torpedo hits although the ships had eight armed trawlers and one E-boat escorting them. The submarine could not observe the full results of this attack.
