The engineer. Mr P. C. Lewis, reported. inter alia, as follows: — Collingwood-Bainham: Three sets of earthenware pipes in the vicinity of the washout in the Bonny Doone have been replaced with concrete. The formation of the country along here is bad. There are several springs coming up into the wqtortables, and some of these may be coming out under the road. Collingwood-Pakawau : Potholes have been tilled from Coal Creek to the Pakawau Bridge, making the surface in very fair condition. Stringers for the Brickyard Creek Bridge have been ordered. 17-Mile Creek: A certain amount of scour has taken place round the end of the apron and extends through the ford. If stones were placed around the end of the groyne just above the ford, this would probably prevent further

scour in the ford itself. At the end of the apron further scour may take place, letting the end of the apron down.
