ADMIRAL HALSEY Wellington, This Day. The Acting-Prime Minister, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, stated last evening that on the invitation of the New Zealand Government Admiral W. F. Halsey. U.S.N., Commander of the South Pacific Area and Force, would visit New Zealand soon. During his stay in New Zealand the admiral would be the guest of the Government and during the time that he was in Wellington he would stay with his Excellency the Governor-General. “I am delighted that Admiral Halsey has found it possible to come to New Zealand for a few days,” said Mr Sullivan. “I cannot stress how greatly the Government have appreciated the assistance which he has always given to the New Zealand forces in the South Pacific area and how much they look forward to this opportunity of bidding him welcome once again to New Zealand.”
