BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING At the April meeting of the Nelsou Navy League Committee the following matters were dealt with: A sample diploma to be presented to school children members was exhibited, and the hon. secretary’s action in requesting the Governor-General’s signature thereto was approved. His Excellency’s acceptance is awaited. A circular letter from British Sailors’ Society was read, and the matter deferred till next meeting. Similarly correspondence with the I.M.D. re purchase of honey, and the consideration of what form a grant to the R.S.A. Building Fund should tok were deferred till May. Letters of thanks were read from the Nelson Patriotic Controlling Committee to all concerned for assistance given in raising £52 at the shop day in conjunction with Toe H. and from the secretary of the Aurora Sailing Club for the assistance of the Ladies’ Auxiliary, at their regatta. A circular letter from Rear-Admiral W. E. Parry. R.N.. thanking Navy League members for congratulations on his promotion, was read. The hon. secretary reported that the final proof copy of the annual report and balance sheet had been sent to the printers, and the necessary number of copies ordered, also that the tentative date for the annua] meeting was fixed for 26th April, to be held at the Institute roo: i. This will be advertised. Members of the committee present offered themselves for re-election. The hon. secretary reported on his visit to Murchison, where he addressed the children of the local school and met lady members of a knitting circle. This should result in Navy League membership in this district. The hon. secretary was instructed to write to Wellington to ascertain if all comforts made from fleece wool were sent overseas, or if any were issued to W.R.N.S. personnel in New Zealand contrary to understood practice. Accounts for the sum of 19/7 were passed for payment.
