EDUCATION CONFERENCE
TWO SUGGESTIONS FROM NELSON Among the proposals to be submitted to the Minister of Education (the Hon. H. G. R. Mason) at the Education Conference to be held in August will be the provision of Assembly Halls at all schools of grade 5 and over and the abolition of the present practice of consulting parents in regard to school consolidation schemes. The Nelson Education Board to-day decided to take up the question of Assembly Halls with the Minister, and Mr F. A. Carling’s suggestion that the board should also press for the discontinuation of the consultation of parents in connection with consolidations met with the general approval oi board members.
