CHANNEL ISLANDERS

CHEERFUL TONE OF MESSAGES RECEIVED (Rec. 10.0 a.m.) Rugby, Jan. 12. Channel Islanders say they are now permitted to send only one Red Cross postal message per month and it must be addressed to a relative, but they are allowed to replv to any Red Cross message received. Despite this restriction there were 7000 messages to relatives in Britain in the past thiee weeks. The general tone is cheerful and there are several referencs to such activities as music, theatricals, tennis, cricket, bathing and dancing. The fruit harvest appears to have been good. Messages from Jersey and Guernsey speak of drying grapes to produce sultanas and picking apples and pears for storing etc.
