KINDERGARTEN MAY NOT START Wellington, This Day. Some doubt was expressed on the tracks yesterday about Tara King starting in the Wellington Cup. The colt’s forefeet are still bruised as the result of the hard ground at Ellerslie. Kindergarten’s programme for the opening day of the Wellington meeting is still undecided. He did strong pacework on the plough at Trentham yesterday, but did not stride out with his customary freedom. Trainer P. Spratt stated that the tenderness the horse displayed at Auckland was mainly the result of the long train journey in trying weather, and he considered that Kindergarten is sounder now than he was at Ellerslie. There is a strong feeling in racing circles that unless rain faffs before Saturday to ease the track, Kindergarten will not be produced in the cup. Scratchings received yesterday by the Wellington Racing Club were as follows: The Joker, 11.35 a.m. Lord Nuffield. 11.35 a.m. Hearth, 11.55 a.m. Bridgehead, 11.55 a.m. It is reported that Gladynev will not start tiff the second day.
