A VISITOR COMPLAINS

(To the Editor) Sir,—l am a visitor for a few days to Sunny Nelson. Yesterday I went to the Port to a spot where I think one sees the most magnificent view of the bay and the Moutere Bluffs in the distance. I visit Nelson every year and always go and spend an afternoon on the seats near the Pilot Station to get this view. To my dismay yesterday I discovered the seats in a broken condition and not safe to sit upon. I walked across to the chains that are supposed to protect one from falling on to the beach, but they are a disgrace and badly patched up with frail pieces of wood—a grave danger to children and also adults who probably would hold on to those chains on a windy day. Surely these indications of neglect provide no incentive for one to spend an afternoon at this glorious spot with these eyesores in front of one. I then walked to the Post Office at the Port to get stamps from the stamp machine and that is bandaged up and no stamps available. Trusting that on my next visit things will be a little more shipshape.—l am etc.. A VISITOR Nelson. 10th January.
