ONEKAKA TEACHER FARE WELLED
At tlie Onekaka School, a very enjoyable programme was provided to entertain both parents and pupils. Races and games, together with swimming sports in the attractive school baths kept the children happily occupied and were followed by afternoon tea and ice cream for the children.
Mr A. H. Scadden, chairman of the Onekaka School Committee, referred to the departure of their teacher, Miss C. Grooby, who had been transferred to Motupioi school. After expressing appreciation of Miss Grooby’s good work during her 2£ years stay, Mr Scadden stated that it wao with great regret that the committee had learned of her departure. On behalf of the committee, he then presented Miss Grooby with a handsome wall-mirror and extended best wishes for her future. On behalf of the pupils, Graham King, in a happy little speech, also expressed the regret of all the pupils at losing Miss Grooby and wished her every happiness in her new school. He then presented his teacher with a leather writing-case, a gift from the pupils. Miss Grooby thanked the committee and pupils for the gifts and kind wishes.
