JEEPS AFTER THE WAR
“36 CIVILIAN USES” Washington, Dec. 10. The "jeep” is too dangerous to be released to the public without gearing it down. This view was expressed by Mr George Ritter, vice-president of WillysOverland Motors, which originated the übiquitous little vehicle. Mr Ritter told a House of Representatives committee that the “jeep” performed at least 24 separate tasks in the armed forces, and Willys had perfected plans for 36 civilian uses after the war.
