RUSSIAN FRONT
LULL STILL CONTINUES NO SIGNS OF GERMAN ATTACK (Rec. 11.40 a.m.) Rugby. June 30. . There are still no signs o£ a German attack on the Russian Iront, and this is considered due to the necessity of making good serious gaps in German ranks caused by the last winter campaign. A large number of Germans has been called to the colours from civil life, but they are deficient in quality and have had little training. Nevertheless they have been put in the front line. Despite this, there is no sign that the Germans are likely to crack. There is also no confirmation that Marshal von Keitel has moved his headquarters to the west and nothing is known of any intensive movement of German troops.—B.O.W. ACTIVITY ON KARELIAN SECTOR The Karelian front in the last few days has been the scene of increased activity, says a report from Helsinki. The Russians are carrying out incessant violent attacks in the Rukajervi sector, on the central Karelian front, in an attempt to recapture a fortified hill. Finnish forces repulsed the attacks, inflicting heavy casualties on the Russians. Russian guerrillas who on the north Karelian front penetrated Finnish positions were wiped out. Considerable reconnaissance is going on in other Karelian sectors. —P.A.
