MOTOR REGISTRATION
LAST-MINUTE RUSH AVOIDED INCREASED APPLICATIONS THIS YEAR For the first time for many years on the last day for the registration of motor vehicles in Nelson there was no stream of motorists hastening to the Post Office. In place of the lengthy queues usually to be seen on the last day of the re-licensing period, only a very few who had left the registration of vehicles till the last moment, called at the Post Office this morning and completed their business without any delay. Although more vehicles have been registered during June this year than in the corresponding month last year, the were spread evenly over the whole period and a last-minute rush was avoided. At the close of business last evening the department had completed 1198 registrations of motor cars, an increase of 203 on the number dealt with up to a corresponding time last year. The number of trucks registered was 326 compared with 323 last year. Motor cycles also showed an increase this 3 r ear in comparison with last year. 40 having been registered this June against 27 in June last year.
