HARBOUR AFFAIRS BOARD INVESTS £IOOO IN LIBERTY LOAN The monthly meeting of the Motueka Harbour Board was attended by Messrs C. H. Mackay (chairman), D. L. Drummond, R. P. Rowling, R. Teece, and A. Rowling. Apologies for absence were tendered on behalf of Messrs P B. Calder and H. B. Everett. FINANCE Accounts amounting to £217 Os lOd were presented and passed for payment, leaving a bank credit of £1717 17s Id. On the motion of the chairman and Mr Teece it was decided’that the Board invest the sum of £IOOO in National Savings. THE LATE MR H. EVERETT The chairman, in making feeling reference to the passing of Mr Horatio Everett, said the board had lost its oldest and most experienced member. Mr Everett had been associated with the board since its inception in 1902 and had served the public faithfully and well during 'the intervening years. On the motion of Messrs A. Rowling and D. L. Drummond it was decided that a letter be forwarded to Mrs Everett and family expressing the board’s deep sympathy in their bereavement. The motion was carried in the customary manner. INCREASED REVENUE Arising out of the Harbourmaster s report Mr Mackay expressed pleasure at the fact that the revenue J*™ wharf showed an increase of -119 tor May as compared with the! corresponding month of last year. It was also decided that consideration of the letter from Lime and Marble Ltd. be deferred until the next meeting. . Seven applications were received for the position of regular general hand to the board; and, after consideration, it was agreed to appoint Mr V. E. Harris, the appointment to take effect as from Monday 28th June.
