WIFE AND CHILD ''F BRITISH OFFICER ON BOARD CAPTURED SHIP NANKING (Rec. 10 a.m.) Perth, This Day. In an effort to join her husband e beautiful Frenchwoman and her baby have fallen into Japanese hands. The woman, Mrs GabriUe Lyon, and her baby were evacuated to Australia before the fall of Malaya. For months she had no word of her husband, Cap tain lan Lyon, of the British Army, who was serving in Malaya. Then she received a cable stating that he had escaped to India. Against advice, Mrs Lyon boarded the ship Nanking to joir him. The ship was captured by th« Japanese in the Indian Ocean. A few weeks later Captain Lyon arrived in Perth looking for his wife and baby.— P.A.
