BIG PROPERTY DEAL
PART OF ALICE MERRY ESTATE Wellington, June 24. A property sale of great interest is being held to-day, forming part of the Alice Merry estate, and consisting of shops, dwellings and land in the city and suburbs. There are some 50 houses and shops, making with the land, 36 lots. The late Mrs Merry, who was 83 at her death, lived in Cambridge Terrace. Her estate was valued at £105,000 and paid £55,700 in death duties. She was found dead by the police when they forced an entry in October., 1941. She lived a very .secluded life, and in a room in all was found £26,000 in bank notes, a savings bank book with a credit of £514 and share scrip debentures and mortgages and other documents of value. A big crowd is attending.—P.A. Total sales for the day were £15,015.
