FILM STAR IN ACTION
FOUGHT THE JAPANESE London, May 7. Lieutenant-Commander Robert Montgomery, the former film star, is recovering from jungle fever at an advanced Pacific base hospital after a series of adventures more exciting than any written for him by scenario writers, says the “Daily Mail’s” New *Tork correspondent. Montgomery was in the thick of the fighting in the Solomons, the correspondent states. He went through the last 18 days of fighting off Guadalcanar aboard the flagship. Reports say that in the Guadalcanar actions he took part in attack after attack, displaying great courage.
