ASKED TO RETIRE

ARMY OFFICERS OVER 40 London, May 7. Still more officers in the “forties” have been weeded out of the British Army recently because of their inability to stand up to the stiff technical and physical requirements of modern warfare., writes Lieutenant-Colonel T. A. Lowe in the “Daily Mail.” The Army as a whole is reaching a supreme pitch of hardness and efficiency, and every day more and more young officers are being given positions of great responsibility.

Older men find the new conditions an increasing strain, and many who were called up on the Reserve of Officers or the Emergency Reserve, are being asked to retire.
