NAZI SHIP SUNK
AMMUNITION AND TROOPS ON BOARD (Rec. 11 a.m.) Rugby, June 22. The 3000-ton German ship Birka was sunk off the Norwegian coast outside Trondheim on June 10, according to the Norwegian Government in London. The ship was on her way from Trondheim to Kirkenes, northern Norway, and carried cargo, ammunition and petrol. It had aboard 800 German soldiers, about half of whom were rescued. —8.0. W.
