NEARLY £16,000,000 LAST YEAR (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. The Social Security Fund last year distributed nearly £16,000,000 in benefits and pensions, including war pensions. The largest payment was for the age benefit £7,783,000, while medical benefits totalled £1,016,000, hospital £1,539,000, pharmaceutical £563,000, and maternity £505,000. The annual report, tabled in the House of Representatives to-day, showed that the fund commenced the financial year with '£3,023,835, which was approximately its credit after meeting the year’s expenditure.
