FALL INTO BOILING POOL
COUPLE CRITICALLY INJURED Rotorua, June 22. Miss June Davidson, aged 24, of Egmont street, Patea, and residing at Rotorua, and Mr Norman Forbes, aged 23, Blenheim, an Air Force trainee, were admitted to Rotorua Hospital last evening suffering from severe and extensive scalds. Miss Davidson and Mr Forbes were a little distance ahead of a party of 10 persons passing through the thermal area known as the Kuirau Reserve, near Ohinemutu, at 9.30 on Monday night. It was dark and stormy and the path was narrow and winding. Calls for help brought the main party hurriedly to the scene. The couple had apparently slipped or blundered into a boiling pool on the edge of the track. They were got out with difficulty, and rushed to hospital. The condition to-day of both was very critical. —P.A.
