HEAVY CASUALTIES SUFFERED Rugby, June 21. Twenty-five per cent. of Belgian merchant seamen who were serving when. Belgiqrr. was plunged into war lost their lives in the fight for Belgium’s liberation, said the Belgian Minister of Transport, M. Balthasar. He added: “With few exceptions all Belgian seamen have been torpedoed at least once.” M. Balthasar was speaking at a ceremony at which the British Government handed over to the Belgian Government a 10,000-ton merchantman named “Belgian Crew.” which is the fourth new ship presented to the Belgians this year to replace 1940 losses.—B.O.W.
