FIGHTING SERVICES CLUB

INADEQUATE ACCOMMODATION “The popularity of the Fighting Services Club has exceeded our most sanguine expectations to such an extent that in recent months it has become increasingly apparent that the available accommodation is quite inadequate,” stated the annual report of the Nelson Provincial Patriotic Council. “This matter has had the earnest consideration of the executive and at the moment enquiries are being made as to the possibilities of securing additional or other accommodation. The unsatisfactory conditions obtaining at the club as a result of this handicap will no doubt be seriously aggravated in the near future. “The executive hopes that its efforts in the direction indicated will be successful and that before long it will be possible for the women's club committee to cope satisfactorily, and with some degree of comfort, with the large numbers vvho are taking advantage of the facilities and entertainment provided. “The executive expresses its sincere thanks for the untiring work given in the management of the club by the Mayoress. Mrs E. R. Neale, and her loyal band of helpers.” At the annual meeting of the council last evening Mr J. A. Harley expressed the appreciation of the committee for the weekly donations of foodstuffs to the club and he referred particularly to the generous hampers of goods provided by the country people.
