PLANE FERRY SERVICE
FROM U.S. TO MIDDLE EAST ARMY TO TAKE OVER CONTROL Washington, Oct. 4. The Army plans to take over the plane feri'ying service from the United States to the Middle East on Ist November. after the expiration of the contract of the Pan-American Company which has been carrying on the woi'k with civilian pilots. Officials stated that the Pan-American Company had pioneered routes and done a bi'illiant job. but the Army had long been preparing the use of military crews for ferry service to combat zones. All planes destined for U.S. Air Forces as well as lease-lend ci'aft will be handled by the Ai'my. Many Pan-American civilian ferry pilots are expected to accept commissions and continue in the service.—P.A.
