SECOND FRONT
VIEWS OF M. STALIN NO OFFICTAL~STATEMENT in LONDON Loudon, Oct. 4. London newspapers give prominence to Stalin’s second front statement. The “Daily Telegraph” says: “No official statement is available in London on Stalin's view. Semi-official sources considered Stalin's remarks to have underlined and in many respects confirmed the substance of Mr Churchill’s speech in the House of Commons.”—P.A. DISCUSSED BY AMBASSADORS (Rec. 12.15 p.m ) London, Oct. 5 The British and American Ambassadors in Moscow informally discussed M. Stalin's letter on a second front. The Moscow correspondent of the Associated Press of Great Britain says they are expected to seek an explanation of some of its phrases. Diplomatic circles believe the letter reveals the differences in views of Allied capitals. Moscow radio read Stalin’s letter three times in the Russian news bulletins. It also broadcast in all the Moscow and Kuibyshev foreign language broadcasts. Even the Moscow night war communique was delayed while the letter was read again.—P.A.
