CRIME IN MEXICO
18.000 MURDERS A YEAR Mexico City, Oct. 3. The newspaper “Excelsior” reports that criminality is rampant throughout Mexico. Eighteen thousand murders are perpetrated yearly, reducing the population more than typhoid, smallpox and other epidemics.
The newspaper attributes the situation to the lack of the death penalty in some States. —P.A.
