DISORDERS IN COPPER MINES

ANTI-WAR EFFORT AGITATION ACTION TAKEN IN SOUTHERN RHODESIA (Rec. 10.20 a.m.) Rugby, Oct 5. The Colonial Office states that because certain elements on the copper belt have been deliberately fomenting subversive agitation against the war effort in the past few months, the Government of Northern Rhodesia has detained three of the individuals concerned. The Governor appealed to officials of the Mineworkers’ Union to use their influence to prevent any disorders, intimating that the Government had fully resolved to take all necessary steps to maintain, law and order.—B.O.W.
