WAKEFIELD-FOXHILL PATRIOTIC DRIVE
A combined meeting- of the Wakefield and Foxhill Patriotic Controlling Committees with representatives of the WaKefield and Foxhill branches of the W.W.S.A.. and the Wakefield National Savings Committee, was held in the Wakefield School to plan a campaign to increase the district’s contributions to the Patriotic Bunds. The secretary reported that the Wakefield branch of the W.W.S.A. had recently contributed £6O as proceeds from the Patriotic Shop, for which they were accorded a hearty vote of thanks The need for the present drives aros** from the fact that on a population basis approximately £2OO was required by 30th September for the district to reach its quota. Fourteen ladies, mostly members of the W.W.S.A. volunteered to 'canvass the district with Comforts Coupons, and a generous response is earnestly desired. Other activities planned are a Paddy's Market organised by the Wakefield W.W.S.A. to take the place of the usual Patriotic Shop for this week, a children's fancy dress ball and a Belle of the Ball competition. For all of these functions preparations are now in full swing.
