GUINEAS FOR VEGETABLES
PRIZES FOR YOUNG GROWERS Sydney, July 6. State Government support is being given to North Sydney Rotary Club’s proposal for an inter-school vegetable growing competition. Prizes totalling 70 guineas will be awarded by the club to the home and school sections of the competition. Both public and private schools will compete in North Sydney, Willoughby, and Mosman. The Minister for Education, Mr Clive Evatt, said yesterday that the competition would be strongly encouraged by his department. He understood that the Department of Agriculture and the councils of the municipalities concerned would co-oper-ate. “My family enjoyed at home tonight a cabbage grown by my eight-year-old daughter,” he said.
