LICENCE CANCELLED Wellington, Aug. 8. “If people whose livelihood depends on driving cars will get drunk, I am not going to alter the statutory penalty of 12 months’ disqualification from holding a driving licence,” said Mr J. L. Stout, S.M., in Wellington, when imposing that penalty, as well as a fine of £2O. upon James Piper, a taxi-driv-er, who pleaded guilty to having been in charge of a taxi while in a state of intoxication.
