GIPSIES’ HOARD

GOLD COINS FOUND IN SYDNEY Sydney, June 11. Searching a Sydney house occupied by gipsies, detectives found a box containing gold coins valued at more than £IOOO. Among the coins were English £5, French 100-franc, and American fivedollar pieces. Some of the coins have been out of circulation for many years. Police took possession of the gold, since the law requires any person possessing gold coin or bullion to declare it to the Commonwealth Bank. The gold will probably be handed over to the bank. It is believed to have been accumulated over a period of many years during the world-wide wanderings of several gipsies.—P.A. Special Australian Correspondent.
