O.S. WARSHIPS
NOW OPERATING IN MEDITERRANEAN MORE AXIS VESSELS SUNK Rugby, April 29. President Roosevelt has disclosed that American warships are now operating in the Mediterranean. This was one of the best-kept naval secrets of the war. In an attack on a small enemy convoy in the Gulf of Sirte on 28th our aircraft shot down two Dornier 18'.s and a tanker in the convoy was hit. In another part of the Mediterranean a medium-sized merchant vessel, escorted by two or three destroyers was at tacked and hit with a torpedo on Monday night. A further convoy was attacked on Sunday night and one ship was hit by a torpedo.—B.O.W.
