COURTESY VISIT
ADMIRAL LEAHY CALLS ON RETAIN London, April 27. As a prelude to his departure for the United States for consultation, Admiral Leahy, United States Ambassador at Vichy, called on Marshal Petain to-day. Afterward he saw M. Laval. The Vichy news agency says that the visit was a courtesy one. and did not signify that the Ambassador had presented letters of recall to the Chief of State. The new Japanese Ambassador to | Vichy was received to-day by Marshal Petain and Laval. In an interview in the Paris newspaper “Le Matin” to-day, the Vichy Minister of Education said it was his intention to develop a continual exchange of opinion between Germany and France and to bring back “the natural order of things" between the two countries.—P.A.
