TO TRAIN EVERY FIT MAN
INTERCHANGES SUGGESTED IFrom Our Own Parliamentary Reporter! Wellington. This Day. An interchange of detachments of men in essential industries with an equal number of men who had completed their military training was suggested by Mr J. O’Brien (Government. Westland) in a notice of question to the Minister of Defence in the House of Representatives yesterday. He said the process could be repeated until every fit man of military age had been trained to defend New Zealand. “Large numbers of men from essential industries have been trained, are in camp, or serving with the forces and it would be welcome change for them to return to industry for a while,” Mr O’Brien said. “On the other hand, the work in essential industries is sometimes monotonous, and those employed therein would enjoy a month in camp. Some Army experts have agreed that most valuable military training can be given in one month.”
