BOMBING OF MANILA RETALIATORY MEASURES URGED • Rec. 12.40 p.m. i Washington, Dec. 30. General MacArthur urged that retaliatory measures should be taken against Japan for the bombings of Manila, which have completely violated all civilised processes of international law. Military authorities are of the opinion that the Japanese attack on Corregidor Island is a prelude to an attempt to send warships into Manila Bay with the view of out-flanking the United States troops holding the Luzon front 85 miles north and 50 south-east of Manila. —U.P.A.
