SUICIDE BY DROWNING

BODY FOUND IN APPLEBY RIVER A verdict of suicide by drowning while in a state of deep mental depression was returned by the Coroner. Mr T. E. Maunsell S.M., in the inquest into the death of Kathleen Ching, married, aged 52 years. It was stated that Mrs Ching left her home at 2.30 p.m. on Monday and was not seen again alive. A passer-by saw her body in the Appleby River at 7.45 p.m. The police were communi - cated with and the body recovered from 16 feet of water. A sugar bag of stones was tied to the body.
