The weater was fine but overcast, with a cold westerly wind, for the concluding day of the Wellington Racing Club's spring meeting and, contrary to '• expectations, there was very little dry- '• ing of the going, which was always soft 1 and slow. s As was only to be expected with a s holiday to contrast with a week-day last year, when it was impossible to race on Labour Day because of the weather, there was a very substantial ' s increase in the turnover for the day. The total was £109,779 10s. an increase i; for the day of no less than £50.305. The grand total for the three days was ~ £253.990 10s, against £190.0(35, an increase for the meeting of £63,925 10s.
