CENTENNIAL ENVELOPES
FREE ISSUE THROUGH SCHOOL CHILDREN HOW THEY SHOULD BE USED j With a view to obtaining wide pubFcity for the Centennial celebrations in { 1942. the Early Settlers’ Memorial As- j sociation is making a free issue this week, through the schools, of envelopes j with a picture of Nelson Haven and . the dates of the celebrations printed on j them. These envelopes are given to the ! school children throughout the district j with the object of enabling their par- j ents to use them when writing to! friends in other parts of the Dominion. j , In addition to the holding of various functions to do honour to the founders i c.( the Nelson settlement it is intended . that the Centennial will be an occasion ! for a reunion of former Nelsoriians j from other parts of New Zealand. In i fact it was to welcome these visitors j and to enable them to meet friends of j former days that it was decided to \ hold a special gathering on Saturday, ! 31st January. It is to be hoped that \ good use will be made of the envelopes offered. Additional supplies will be available at local shops.
