FORMER U.S. DESTROYER SUNK
London, Oct. 2 The Admiralty announces the loss by torpedo of the destroyer Broadwater in the North Atlantic w hile on escort duty. She was one of the destroyers taken over from the I'nited States, and is the second such destroyer to be sunk. A I'nited States citizen from Boston was on board. The Broadwater had attacked and possibly destroyed a U-boat on the previous day. The Admiralty r.nnounces that the auxiliary vessel H.M.S. Springbank (Captain C. It. Godwin) has been sunk There were some casualties.— ll' A.
