MR NASH IN AUSTRALIA
TALKS WITH MINISTERS Melbourne, Oct. 24. The New Zealand Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, continued discussions to-day with the Federal Ministers Messrs Drakeford (Air). Keane (Customs) and Beasley 'Supply*. AH subjects were of a confidential nature, particularly questions of Pacific strategy. on which Mr Nash was unable to make any statement in the present stage. He will remain in Melbourne in the weekend, making a broadcast on Sunday night, and will leave for Canberra on Monday for a continuation of the discussions. He will be present when the new Labour Government presents its Budget on Wednesday. Today Mr Nash carried the discussions for an extension of the Clipper service to Sydney a stage further. There is every probability of a satisfactory agreement being reached between the British, Australian and New Zealand interests concerned. While Mr Nash is in Australia the Federal Government will review the whole system of the supply of war materials from Australia in an effort to reach a sound business basis. It is understood that New Zealand's request :s for an automatic allocation of onesixth of the Australian production of certain specified items.
