EXPEDITION SHIPS ARRIVE
COMMEMORATION CEREMONY NEXT SATURDAY’S FUNCTION A centennial function of great significance to the people of Nelson Province will take place at Port Nelson next Saturday afternoon when the hundredth anniversary of the arrival in Nelson Haven of the Expedition Ships carrying Captain Arthur Wakefield and his men will be commemora ted. At 2 p.m. the Captain Arthur Wakefield memorial stone will be dedicated by the Bishop of Nelson and unveiled. At 3 p.m. the ceremony of breaking out the British flag on the old Flag Staff site on Britannia Heights will take It is expected that people from all j parts of the Province will gather to j take part in this historic function, and thus do their part in honouring thr memory of the early settlers.
