BED IS SO BORING

I have been in bed for a week now, with whooping cough and it is so boring. I saw Sir Bevan to-day after not seeing him for a long time. He is just the same silly little sheep, however; covered with black-berries, very friendly with people who have got pieces of bread and not A all interested in people who haven’t. We have twelve little chickens now and some more will be hatching on Sunday. Chickens are very nice when 1 they are little but they grow up far tO-> quickly. j Humphrey has not been near me much lately. For the first few days he was very friendly, and then I got so bored that I put a bed sock on his head. He was dreadfully offended. He was in here last night though, when I had fish for tea. He wasn’t going to miss that! All the flowers and vegetables seem to be growing their fastest because I’m in bed. When I’m not they’re very ! slow. I think it’s not nice of them. —Elsie Arnold (14 years) Motupiko.
