CANON J. DE B. GALWEY
Prominent in work for the Anglican 1 Church. Canon J. de B. Galwev died in Christchurch recently, aged 73 years. 1 Canon Galwcy, who was born in London, arrived in New Zealand in 1875 ; with his parents, who settled in Wel--1 lington. He attended Wellington College, and later received his Church j training under Bishop Mules at Nelj son. Though he had a parish at New- ! town for two years, most of his work j was with the Christchurch Anglican i parishes, including Little River. Bel- , fast. Riccarton. and Sumner, and later, j for 14 years, he was diocesan secretary. ; After his retirement. Canon Galwcy ! paid a four-year visit to England with ! his wife, and since their return two j years ago, they resided at Cashmere. ; Canon Galwev is survived by his wife and two sisters. Mrs Henry J Smith, Wellington, and Mrs Rutherford. Auckland.
